ROY M. TRAVERSO
Roy M. Traverso, 69, of San Anselmo, died Saturday in a local hospital after an illness of several months.
Traverso was born on a vegetable ranch on the present site of Sir Francis Drake High School and lived all his life in Marin.
He retired three years ago after owning Quality Liquor in Fairfax for many years. He previously was a partner in the Home Market in San Anselmo.
Traverso played briefly in 1933 on a major league baseball team.
Traverso is survived by three sisters, Mabel Bisagno, Ada Moraes and Marie Cervelli, all of San Anselmo, and two step-children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anselm’s Church, San Anselmo. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael.
His family asked that memorial contributions go to the American Cancer Society.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the uncle of Carol Asleson and great-uncle of Tammy Asleson.
