IRA LEWIS EDWARDS
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marin City for Ira Lewis Edwards, a longtime Marin resident and supervisor at Madrone High School in San Rafael.
Mr. Edwards died Friday at his home in Mill Valley. He was 36.
He had worked as a campus supervisor at Madrone, a continuation school.
“He was really beloved here by the kids,” Principal Helen Tucker said. “He roamed the halls, made sure kids got to class on time and helped them uphold the rules.”
Mr. Edwards was born in San Francisco but came to Marin City as a child and grew up there. He attended Tamalpais High School and College of Marin.
He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local Union 3 in Ignacio.
He is survived by a son, Aaron Ira Edwards of Mill Valley; his former wife, Jenny Edwards Veggerby of Mill Valley; his mother, Iris Edwards Crutchfield of Vallejo; two brothers, Rayfield Edwards of Vallejo and Henry Earl Crutchfield of San Rafael; and two sisters, Susie Edwards of Vallejo and Fay Crutchfield Hill of Marin City.
