EDWARD BRICE
Edward Brice, a longtime resident and liquor store owner in Novato, died early today in a local hospital after a sudden illness. He was 64.
Brice was raised in San Francisco and came to Novato in 1952.
He was the retired owner of Brice Liquors in the Nave Shopping Center. He also operated a liquor store in Healdsburg.
Previously, he and his brothers owned Brice Brothers Supermarkets, one of Novato’s first big supermarkets. They also opened stores in Strawberry, Marin City and in Healdsburg.
Brice and his brothers also ran Brice Brothers’ wholesale produce business in San Francisco.
He was a member of the Novato Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Marin Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Brice of Novato; two sons, Bud and Steven Brice, both of Novato; two daughters, Sharon Champeau of San Rafael and Olivia Brice of Penngrove; a brother, Irwin Brice of Mountain View; two sisters, May Danks of Boise, Idaho, and Freida Sutter of North Platte, Neb.; and seven grandchildren.
Services are pending at Redwood Chapel Funeral Home in Novato.
