JAY ALAN JOHNSON

Jay Alan Johnson was found dead in his home at the Johnson Oyster Farm in Drake’s Bay on Sunday morning, He was 22.

He was the victim of a suicide.

A native of Washington, he came to California in 1958 and settled in San Rafael for five years before moving to Point Reyes Station.

He moved to Oklahoma City, Okla. For three years before returning to West Marin and graduating from Tomales High School in 1975.

He was an employee over the last four years of Johnson Oyster Farm operated by his family in Drake’s Bay west of Inverness.

Survivors include his father, Charles B. Johnson of Drake’s Bay; his mother, Joanne Clifton of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Ben Johnson of Drake’s Bay and Mark Johnson of Oklahoma City and Charles B. Johnson Jr. of Santa Rosa; two sisters, Michell (sic) Rakestraw of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Rebel Johnson of Santa Rosa; his grandfather, Charles Johnson of Drake’s Bay; and his grandmother, Wilma Manley of Pinole.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Chapel of the Hills Mortuary in San Anselmo.

JAY ALAN JOHNSON

The funeral service for Jay Alan Johnson, 22, of Inverness, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo.

Johnson, who died Sunday at his home, worked at Johnson’s Oyster Farm along Drake’s Bay.

He was a native of Aberdeen, Wash., and had been a resident of Marin for six years.

Burial will be at Olema Cemetery.
