LILLIAN F. DOHERTY
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian F. Doherty, a longtime Mill Valley resident, will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Mill Valley.
Mrs. Doherty died Thursday at a San Francisco hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 89.
A native of Nebraska, Mrs. Doherty had lived in Mill Valley since 1920. She was the wife of James F. Doherty, a retired colonel in the Army Air Corps. A former member of the Mill Valley City Council, he died in 1964.
Mrs. Doherty and her family traveled extensively during her husband’s military service. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Doherty was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Marion Zimmerman of Mercy (sic) Island, Wash., Grace Shores and Ethel O’Connor, both of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Bessie Walsh and Delphia Coan of Mill Valley; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Russell and Gooch Funeral Home, Mill Valley, after 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
The family prefers contributions be made to a favorite charity.
