MR. THOMAS N. DOODY DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Sudden passing of Prominent Member of Public Works Dept. Staff.
Montreal, Dec. 9, 1923

Word was received here today of the death of Thomas Neill Doody, of the department of public works, Ottawa, which occurred at San Raphael, Calif, on Saturday.

The late Mr. Doody was born in Montreal in 1856 and entered the Canadian civil service in 1886. He left for California ten days ago for his health, but the change of climate failed to benefit him and he died Saturday.

The late Mr. Doody had been connected with the public works department since the early eighties and had worked his way up to the office of department editor. Since the classification in the civil service in 1918, Mr. Doody had been in this office. He was unmarried and latterly roomed at 84 Nepean Street (Ottawa) . When they heard of his death last evening fellow employees of the public works department were touched at the news as he had taken leave of absence only a few days ago.

Of a quiet and retiring disposition the late T.N. Doody was not affiliated with any clubs or fraternal societies. He usually spent his days at work and his evenings in his room. Through his office as department editor of the public works department and through his lengthy service in that department he became intimately acquainted with everything connected with it. Mr. Dennis Doody, of the Dominion Express, Montreal, is a brother while he also has two sisters.

NOTE: At the time of his death he owned a house on Clandeboyne Ave. Westmount/Montreal.

Also, we have information from other sources to the following:

He died at his brother M. C. Doody's house at Oak Avenue, St. Raphael, California. He was the son of Dennis Doody and Eliza O'Neill.
