Mary Schivo
A memorial service for Mary Schivo of Point Reyes, a former longtime resident of Forest Knolls, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at San Geronimo Valley Presbyterian Church in San Geronimo.
Mrs. Schivo died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1987. She was 83.
Mrs. Schivo was a resident of Forest Knolls for over 50 years before she moved to Point Reyes one and a half years ago.
She was a member of the Marin County Sheriff’s Posse and the San Geronimo Valley Horsemen’s Association.
An active member of the San Geronimo Valley Association, Mrs. Schivo organized an effort to use funds from a parcel of land sold be the association to help build an addition to the Woodacre Improvement Club. The club is the current site for the valley’s Senior Lunch Program and other activities for seniors.
She was the first coordinator of West Marin Senior Services and donated many long hours to help organize volunteers, transportation and other needed services.
She was also a member of the West Marin Association for Affordable Housing.
Mrs. Schivo was named “Woman of the Year” by the Woodacre Lions Club in 1984.
She was also nominated for Marin’s Senior Citizen of the Year award in 1978.
Her husband, Albert Schivo, died eleven years ago.
