James Stevens Succumbs At 81
James M. Stevens, 81-year-old retired printed (sic) for the Merced Sun-Star, died Saturday in a local hospital after a long illness. He had lived 20 years in Marin County.
A resident of 12 New England Villa in San Rafael for the last two years, Stevens had previously lived for 18 years at Pt. Reyes. He was born in Merced and spent most of his life there.
Surviving are a son, Irwin A. Stevens, and a granddaughter, Judy Perry, both of Oakland. His wife, Annie C. Stevens, is deceased, as are four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Chapels of Russell and Gooch in Mill Valley, with interment at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds the following information: he was the brother of the late George, Alfred and Edward Stevens, Eliza Bibbey and Rose Hansen.
