Leopold Lenaerts

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Leopold Lenaerts of San Rafael at 5 p.m. Wednesday at St. Isabella’s Church in Terra Linda.

He died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 17, 1987, at Kaiser Hospital in Terra Linda. He was 55.

He was born and raised in Belgium.

Mr. Lenaerts was serving in the Belgium Air Force when he transferred to the U.S. Air Force in the late 1950s. He served as a weather observer, flying to various destinations in this country and abroad.

Later, he was a computer analyst for 10 years at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. in San Francisco.

He moved to San Rafael in 1976 from San Francisco.

Survivors are his wife, Yvonne Lenaerts of San Rafael; two sons, Bart Lenaerts of Novato and Francis Lenaerts of San Rafael; one brother, Jef Lenaerts of Belgium; and four sisters, Magrite VanHoeck-Lenaerts, Maria Nagels-Lenaerts, Lieva Keersmaekers-Lenaerts and Paula Bergmans-Lenaerts, all of Belgium.

A rosary will be recited at 8 tonight at Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley.

Visitation will be after 3 this afternoon at the funeral chapel. Private burial will be in Valley Memorial Park in Novato.
