LYTTON C. SCHWERIN
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael’s Church in San Rafael for Lytton C. Schwerin, a longtime Marin resident and partner of the Firestone Tire and Brake Co. in San Rafael.
Mr. Schwerin died Friday at his home in San Rafael after a long illness. He was 67.
He was born in San Francisco, but moved to San Anselmo when he was a small child. Growing up in San Anselmo, he attended local schools.
In 1935, he was student body president at Tamalpais High School. Four years later, Mr. Schwerin graduated from the University of Santa Clara.
Until he retired in 1969, he was a partner in Brodie and Schwerin Firestone Tire and Brake Co.
He was a member of the Elks Club of San Rafael, Marin Rod and Gun Club and the Richmond and Indian Valley golf clubs.
Survivors are his wife of 42 years, Adele; three sons, Michael Schwerin of Malibu, Stephen Schwerin of Moss Beach, San Mateo County, and Thomas Schewrin of Larkspur; a daughter, Carol Schwerin Soinila of Ukiah; his father, Lytton H. Schwerin of San Rafael; a brother, Kenneth Schwerin of Los Angeles; a sister, Nell Chalmers of Fairfield; and five grandchildren.
The family prefers memorial donations to Hospice of Marin, 77 Mark Drive, San Rafael 94903.
