Former Miner Dies In Mill Valley

James Martin, a gardener, who has lived in Mill Valley for a number of years, was found dead in his cottage there yesterday morning by Dr. J. J. Spottiswood, who had called to take the aged man to the Emergency Hospital here for treatment.

Martin, who was in the Klondyke during the days of the gold rush, is believed to have left an estate of considerable value. Coroner J. Ray Keaton, who took charge of the remains, has discovered so far money, bonds and property in Martin’s name valued at more than $10,000. Dr. Spottiswood believes that the man is survived by a brother who lives somewhere in the East.

Dr. Spottiswood called on Martin Tuesday and arranged for his removal the next day to the hospital. He did not appear at that time to be seriously ill.
