28th Air. Div. Section Chief Dies At 42
Maj. Charles K. Meszaros, 42, chief of the airborne communications and electronics branch of the 28th Air Division at Hamilton Air Force Base, died of a heart attack Saturday at his home at 162 Westover Circle on the base.
He was dead on arrival at the base hospital at 9:45 a.m.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Meszaros, and two daughters, Carol, 16, and Marsha, 14, as well as his father, Kalwin Meszaros of New York City.
A veteran of 15 years with the Air Force, Major Meszaros had been at Hamilton for the past year.
He was born in Alpha, N.J., and went to school in the eastern United States. After being commissioned as a reserve officer he flew 28 combat flights in B-17 bombers as an air electronics officer.
Major Meszaros had received the Air Medal and three Oak Leaf clusters.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. in t he Catholic chapel at the base. The Rosary will be recited tonight at 8 o’clock in Daphne’s Funeral Home, San Francisco.
