LOUISE V. SHIMADA
San Rafael resident
Louise V. Shimada of San Rafael, who traced her family history back to the Civil War, died of natural causes April 27. She was 82.
“They were Yankees,” said her daughter, Diane Bahrs of Ross.
Private family services were held.
Mrs. Shimada was born in Illinois and lived in Oregon before coming to Marin to be with family.
Her hobbies included making quilts, aprons and clothes for her children. She was a gourmet cook.
She enjoyed fishing with her husband of 64 years, Joe Shimada.
In addition to her husband and her daughter, Mrs. Shimada is survived by another daughter, Joanne Kirihara of Honolulu; her sister, Billie Ratchuck; and five grandchildren.
