REV. BERNARD F. BURKE
Catholic priest

The Rev. Bernard F. Burke, a Catholic priest for 59 years, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 1990, at the Nazareth House in San Rafael. He was 86.

He was born in San Francisco and ordained in 1930.

Serving the Archdiocese of San Francisco for 59 years, Rev. Burke was a pastor of St. Peter’s Church in Dixon, St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Hayward and St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in San Mateo.

He moved to San Rafael 15 years ago to make his home at the Nazareth House.

He is survived by a sister, Cecelia Burke of San Rafael.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Bartholomew’s Church in San Mateo. A vigil will be at 4 p.m. today at the Nazareth House. Private burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.

His family prefers that contributions be made to Nazareth House, 245 Nova Albion Way, San Rafael.
