Geraldine Kathleen Nowell
Of Mill Valley, passed away on February 22, 2002. Geraldine Kathleen Judge Nowell was born in Corinth, New York on January 10, 1921. She grew up in Saratoga, New York and graduated with a degree in Home Economics (emphasis in Design) from Skidmore College. She later worked in the garment industry in New York City and traveled extensively as a sales representative for Warners. She eventually settled in San Francisco where she met her husband Gerald Nowell in 1952.
They were married on October 31, 1952 and had their daughter Pamela in October of 1953. They moved to Mill Valley in 1954 where they have resided ever since. Their son, Timothy was born in December of 1954.
Gerry was always active in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and became a major participant in the Hot Lunch for the Homeless program. In the mid 1970's she became very involved in the pro-life movement and was one of the first participant's in Birthright of Marin.
She is survived by her husband Jerry, her son Timothy, daughter Pamela, and two grandchildren: Roya, 14 and Alex 12, her sister Mariellen Ambrose, son-in-law Ray, and daughter-in-law Jacque, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation Tuesday, February 26, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel, Mill Valley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Mill Valley. Reception to follow. Memorial gifts preferred to Birthright of Marin.
