Doris Yvonne Moorhead

Passed away at Mills Peninsula February 11, 2002 after a courageous fight against pneumonia. She was 74 years of age.

Beloved mother of Cynthia Cohen of San Mateo, CA, Martha Craig and Peter Moorhead of San Rafael, CA Much loved mother-in-law of Dr. Michael Cohen and Jann Moorhead. Loving grandmother of Daniel, Frank, Natalie and Parke. Dear sister of the late Kenneth Bushman. She is survived by her former husband Harry Moorhead of San Mateo, CA. Longtime friend of the Clarkson family of Newport Beach, CA, Rita Moffett of St. Paul, MN, Joy Smith of Santa Barbara, CA and the Yost family of Napa, CA.

Born Doris Bushman on January 10, 1928 in Reeder, North Dakota to Harold Kenneth Bushman and Mabel Lena King. She spent her early teenage years in Santa Barbara, CA and attended Santa Barbara City College. Doris married Harry Moorhead in 1949, started a family soon after and stayed at home to raise her three children. She began her real estate career as a secretary and later obtained her real estate license while at Blitz Realty in Burlingame, CA. She continued her career as the Relocation Coordinator for Coldwell Banker in Dublin, CA. She most recently was employed by Alain Pinel in Palo Alto, CA and Coldwell Banker in Burlingame, CA.

Doris was a resident of the peninsula for many years and a longstanding member of the Peninsula Tennis Club in Burlingame. She was active in numerous charitable organizations, including Planned Parenthood, Florence Crittenton and the Girl Scouts of America.

Doris had a natural love for the outdoors and a passion for the arts, gardening, tennis, travel and cooking. She also had a keen interest in current events and politics. Doris will be remembered most by her family and close friends for her zest for life and her kindness and generosity. She was a true and loyal friend who touched many lives. She is our inspiration and will live in our hearts forever.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Doris’ life on March 9th at the Hillsborough Racquet Club, 252 El Cerrito Ave. at 3:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (415-445-5437) and Florence Crittenton Services (415-567-2357-#111).
