Death Removes Mrs. Wm. Byrnes

Funeral services were held Monday morning in the Catholic church for Mrs. William M. Byrnes, who passed away Friday at the fifth avenue home after an illness of a number of years.

The precarious condition of Mrs. Byrne’s health was not generally known, and for this reason the news of her death was a great shock to her hosts of friends and to those who have been acquainted with the family for many years.

She is one of the county’s oldest families and a resident here since her early girlhood. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Cochrane, a sister of County Assessor P. H. Cochrane, Postmaster M. F. Cochrane, John Cochrane, connected with the State Food Administration, James Cochrane, attorney, of San Francisco, Mrs. Dowd, and Lulu and Anna Cochrane.

Of her own family she is survived by her husband, William M. Byrnes, and seven children, John W., Charles W., William P., Eugene P., Gertrude, Katherine and Veronica E. Byrnes.

Before her marriage the deceased perfected her education to the extent of preparing for teaching. She attended the university for a part of the course.

A large attendance at the funeral attested the high regard in which the deceased was held.
