JAMES CAUGHY

Funeral for James W. Caughy of Vacaville, killed April 19 in a plane crash, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Epiphany Episcopal Church Vacaville.

He was the husband of the former Florence Lando (sic), lifelong resident of San Anselmo until their marriage, and daughter of the Warren P. Landons of San Anselmo.

Caughy was killed April 19 in a plane crash in Baja California while on a fishing trip with three other men. Their bodies were found Friday.

Caughy, a Vacaville native, was a builder and developer there. He constructed more than 1,000 homes.

A graduate of the University of California, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, the Rotary Club and the Green Valley Country Club in Vallejo.

He also was vice president of the California Homebuilders Association, director of the Vaca Valley Bank of Vacaville, director of General Grinding Co. of Oakland, partner in Vacaville Building Materials and director of Stauman’s Investment Inc.

Other survivors include a son, John Landon Caughy, and a daughter, Laura Jane Caughy, both of Vacaville; and a sister, Dorothy Meschendorf of Napa.

Private interment will be at Dixon Cemetery, Dixon.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds information: he was uncle of Henry Meschendorf of Fairfield and Virginia Meschendorf Keil of Riverside. He was 57 years old.
