Mrs. Selden McCaskey Dies At 81
Funeral services for Mrs. Selden F. McCaskey, a resident of San Rafael since 1923, were held at 11 a.m. today at Keaton's Mortuary. Interment was in Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.
Mrs. McCaskey, 81, died Saturday at a local hospital, where she had been since early January with a heart condition.
Her home was at 1239 Irwin street in San Rafael. A native of Holly Springs, Miss., Mrs. McCaskey traveled widely before settling in Marin County. She spent her youth in Holly Springs, then attended college at Nashville, Tenn.
Her marriage to Charles I. McCaskey, a financial administrator, took place at the Presidio of San Francisco in May, 1905. As a bride, she accompanied him to Manila, and later to Iran and Columbia, among other places. McCaskey was formerly treasurer-general of Persia (now Iran) and was also a financial adviser to the Republic of Liberia prior to his retirement in 1938.
Since his death five years ago, Mrs. McCaskey lived alone.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Allen of Ross and Mrs. Eleanor Mayo of Barnwell, S.C., and a son, Selden F. McCaskey of San Rafael, and five grandchildren. Another son, Lt. Charles I. McCaskey Jr., who was an infantryman, won the distinguished service cross before being killed in action in Germany in 1944.
