James J. Regalia, a retired San Rafael city employee, died Wednesday at Rafael Convalescent Hospital at the age of 96.

In Marin, he was employed by the railroad and then the local water company. Mr. Regalia later worked for the San Rafael street department and put in many of the streets in town. He retied 24 years ago.

He is survived by two sons, Elvus Regalia of San Rafael and James Regalia of Rohnert Park; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mission San Rafael Arcangel. Entombment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael. The rosary will be recited at 8 tonight at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.
