PETERSEN, Lothar Rudolph -- At Marin General Hospital, Greenbrae, CA, November 19, 2001, passed away after a lengthy illness resulting in heart failure. Loving father of Christopher M. Petersen and his wife Stephanie Petersen of San Rafael, and Eric (Rick) Petersen of Petaluma; dear grandfather of Brandon Petersen of Petaluma. A native of San Francisco; age 80 years, living in San Francisco for 35 years and Tiburon for the past 45 years. Retired Master Mariner (Merchant Sea Captain), for various container shipping companies. His last employer was Lykes Lines out of New Orleans. His work most often took him to the Orient and South Pacific. He was a common visitor to ports in Japan, Taiwan, China, and Singapore. He was a graduate of the California Maritime Academy, Class of 1942. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Merchant Seaman during WWII. He was a parishioner at St. Hilary's Church in Tiburon, a member of the San Francisco Historical Society, Maritime Academy Alumni Assoc., Mariners & Mates, American Legion, and the National Rifle Association. Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass Saturday November 24, 2001, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Hilary's Church, 761 Hilary Dr., Tiburon. Interment Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael. Memorial gifts preferred to the Capital Campaign at St. Hilary's School, 765 Hilary Dr., Tiburon, CA., 94920.
