EDGAR T. GLEESON
Edgar T. Gleeson, retired official with the Navy printing service and 50-year resident of Mill Valley, was found dead yesterday at his home.
According to the coroner’s office, Gleeson, 59, apparently fell down a flight of stairs in his home. He was found by a friend who had been expecting a phone call from him.
A native of San Francisco, Gleeson came to Mill Valley as a child and attended Old Mill School. His father, Edgar T. Gleeson Sr. was a veteran San Francisco newsman who at one time edited the old San Francisco Call.
The younger Gleeson graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in public speaking, He served in the Navy during World War II and later became a civilian employee for the Navy for which he worked 30 years. He retired as deputy director of the Navy printing and publications service in Oakland.
Survivors include a sister, Mary J. Gleeson of Carson City, Nev.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Mill Valley. The Rosary will be said Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Russell and Gooch Funeral Home in Mill Valley. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
