ORAN JENKINS
Funeral for Oran Ault Jenkins, retired architect who lived in Stinson Beach, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Daphne Funerals of Marin, Corte Madera.
Jenkins, 78, died Monday in a local hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Paris, Ill., and moved to Albany, Ore., with his parents when he was a teen-ager. He attended the University of Oregon, studying architecture. He was an Army veteran of World War I.
After t he war, he went to work for architects Willis Polk and Albert Farr, mansion designers in San Francisco. He also worked for William Mooser, senior and junior, designing the Santa Barbara County court house and parks and recreation department building.
During the Depression, he went into business for himself, designing small houses. He was listed in Who’s Who in the West prior to his retiring 10 years ago.
Jenkins was a member of the American Institute of Architects.
He is survived by two sons, Oran Arnold Jenkins of Stinson Beach and George E. Jenkins of Pasco, Wash.; a brother, Cleo Jenkins of Salem, Ore. and six grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
Memorial contributions to a favorite charity are preferred by the family.
