HELENA MACKALL RITES HELD
Funeral for Helena MacKall of Corte Madera, former chairman of the Corte Madera Planning commission, were to be held today at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. Burial was at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
Mrs. MacKall died Saturday in the Newport, Ore. Home of a daughter, Elizabeth McKevitt, whom she was visiting. Death was attributed to her long history of heart ailments.
She lived at 21 Edison Avenue.
Born in Washington, Mrs. MacKall came to California in 1920. She was the widow of Murray R. MacKall.
Mrs. MacKall was past president of the Garden Society of Marin and the Lawyers’ Wives of Marin, a former co-director of the Bay Bridges District of the California Garden Clubs, a member of the board of the American Cancer Society, Marin Chapter, and the visiting Nurses Association, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Marin Chapter, and a member of the Audubon Society and the Northgate Group of the Marin Art and Garden Center.
She attended Stanford University and was honored recently for being a member of Alpha Phi sorority 50 years.
Besides Mrs. McKevitt, surviving her are another daughter, Mrs. Helena Skaer of San Anselmo; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
