LARSEN, Irvin Neils - Passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at the age of 92 in San Rafael, CA. Beloved husband of the late Juanita Barrett Larsen, Irv is survived by daughters, Linda and her husband Larry Bryson of Novato, CA, and Nancy and her husband, Jaime Dunbar of Carson City, NV, grandchildren Daylen, Meghan, Ian, Erin, Sarah, and Lisa, and grandchildren Elizabeth and Andre. Born in Alameda, CA, of Danish and German immigrants, he proudly inherited his parents passion for the sea, spending many summers throughout his life working in salmon fisheries in Alaska. He was in the Merchant Marines, getting his Master s rating during WWII, and Captain of the Liberty Ship, the Benjamin A. Fisher. He was a respected Marine Cargo Surveyor in San Francisco for 15 years. He crewed in many Windjammer races and enjoyed the challenges of sailing on the Bay with his friends. A long-time resident of Mill Valley, Sonoma, and St. Helena, he loved golf, gardening, traveling, and sharing good food, drink and lively conversation with his family and friends. His remains will be scattered at sea. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life on April 27th at his daughter's house in Novato. His family requests that any donations in his memory be sent to Rafael Convalescent Hospital, 234 N. San Pedro Rd, San Rafael, CA.
