EDWIN J. SHAFFER
Retired salesman

Edwin J. Shaffer of San Rafael died Friday, July 13, 1990, at the Nazareth House in Terra Linda. He was 86.

Mr. Shaffer was born in Denver. He had lived in Marin for three years.

He was a retired salesman.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 40 years.

Mr. Shaffer is survived by his wife, Rose C.Shaffer of Terra Linda; three daughters, Rosemary Battaglia of Novato, Sister Patricia Shaffer of San Diego and Carolyn Shaffer of Berkeley; a son, John M. Shaffer of Carmichael; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Another son, Charles Shaffer, died earlier.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Nazareth House. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Woodland. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday at Nazareth House. Visitation will be until 5 p.m. Monday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.

His family asked that memorial contributions go to the Nazareth House or a favorite charity.
