Funeral Today For Mrs. Gardiner, A Marin Pioneer
Funeral will be held today for Mrs. Ada E. Gardiner, 86, who died Sunday evening at a San Rafael hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Gardiner was a member of a pioneer family. She was the widow of the late Rev. A. Gardiner and was active in church, civic and educational work in Marin over a long period of years. She was first president and one of the founders of the Larkspur Women’s Improvement Club and the Corte Madera Thimble Club.
For the last several years, she has resided with her son, Atty. Samuel W. Gardiner in San Rafael and at 31 Woodside Way, Ross. Mrs. Gardiner came to Marin with her husband in 1894 from San Pablo, where her husband had been pastor of the Presbyterian Church.
Besides her son Samuel, Mrs. Gardiner is survived by four other sons, Robert M. Gardiner of San Francisco; Edgar J. A. Gardiner and McCosch T. Gardiner of Burlingame, and Paul C. Gardiner of Scotia, N. Y.; and a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Gardiner Scouler of Berkeley. There are also 15 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael, at 1 p.m. today. Interment will be private.
