ZEBADEE R. DOWNEY

A memorial service for Zebadee R. Downey of Petaluma will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the First Southern Baptist Church, Petaluma.

Downey died Sunday at the Petaluma home of his daughter, Arminta Simmonds, after a lengthy illness. He was 93.

A native of Oregon, Downey had worked more than 25 years as an electrician for the Union Pacific Railroad. He had retired in 1947.

Downey moved to Petaluma in 1972. He was a member of the Railroad Retirement Board. His wife, Ora M. Downey, had died previously.

Downey was the last survivor of a family of 16 children.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by a son, Calvin R. Downey of Spokane, Wash., and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
