Mrs. Anna Hoditz, Nearing 80 Years, Passes Suddenly
The funeral for Mrs. Anna A. Hoditz, who passed away last Thursday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. A. Andrade, in San Rafael, was held Monday morning at 8:30 from the Keaton Mortuary, thence to St. Raphael’s Church, where a requiem mass was said at 9 o’clock. Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Hoditz had been a resident of San Rafael for 34 years, coming to this city from San Francisco, with her husband following the earthquake and fire in 1906.
She was born in Gunging, Germany, in 1860. When she was 23 years of age she left Germany to make her future home in the United States.
After living in Boston for a short time, she came to San Francisco, where she was married to Alois Hoditz, who at that time was employed by the Carson Glove Company in San Francisco. When that company moved its plant to this city, Mr. Hoditz came with it and remained with company here for some time.
Shortly after retiring from glove making, Mr. and Mrs. Hoditz were employed as custodians of the Marin County detention home, which position they held for nine years.
Mrs. Hoditz had been under a doctor’s care for several weeks and a few days before her passing, appeared to be greatly improved and approaching normal health. But last Thursday she was suddenly stricken and died following a heart attack.
Besides her husband and daughter, Mrs. Hoditz leaves two sons, Henry A. Sanders, San Francisco, and Frank J. Hoditz, of San Rafael; two grandchildren, Robert Wm. Andrade, and Catherine A. Hoditz.
The deceased was secretary of Marin Stamm, U.O.R.M., No. 29; Daughter of Pocahontas, and was among the prominent and influential members of that organization.
