Joseph Kurt Marshall

A graveside service for Joseph Kurt Marshall, 64, of Mill Valley will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Presidio National Cemetery in San Francisco.

He died Sunday at his home. He was a native of Yugoslavia.

Mr. Marshall had an extensive military background. He was an Army Air Corps pilot prior to Pearl Harbor and was involved in various combat assignments in both North Africa and Italy during World War II.

He serves as a fighter pilot and mission planner with the 31st Fighter Group. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War and remained in the active reserves until 1979. He retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

At the end of World War II Mr. Marshall entered the broadcasting field and was vice-president of marketing for RKO radio. He also worked for CBS radio for 13 years, and ABC radio for five years.

He is survived by his wife, Shirlee E. Marshall of Mill Valley; a daughter, Susan Marshall; a son, Kent Marshall; and his father, Dante Mitrovi.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
