James G. Higgins

Private services were conducted Wednesday at Mission San Rafael Archangel in San Rafael for James G. Higgins of Kentfield, formerly the chief property manager for Embarcadero Center Limited in San Francisco.

Mr. Higgins died at Marin General Hospital on Saturday, June 27, 1987, after a long illness. He was 56.

He was a native of San Mateo.

Mr. Higgins was a first lieutenant in the Marine Corps and served in Korea.

He was graduated from Santa Clara University with a bachelor of science degree in commerce.

Mr. Higgins most recently worked for seven years as director of property for Embarcadero Center Limited in San Francisco.

For 14 years before that, he was the vice president in charge of real estate negotiations for Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco.

He worked previously for continental Service Co., the real estate subsidiary of Bank of America, and Coldwell, Banker & Co.

Mr. Higgins belonged to the San Francisco Real Estate Board, the Institute of Real Estate Management, and the National Association of Real Estate Boards. He also was a licensed real estate broker.

He served on the boards of directors of the Market Street Development Association and the Bay Area United Services Organization, which he serves as executive director in 1981.

Mr. Higgins is survived by his wife, Mary Higgins; two daughters, Maureen Higgins and Katherine Higgins; and one son, Michael Higgins, all of Kentfield; one brother, David Higgins, and his father, James Higgins, both of Sacramento. His mother, Mae Higgins, died previously.

Burial was Wednesday at Valley Memorial Park in Novato.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to Bay Area USO in San Francisco.
