Jerry Cohn’s Death I Shock to Those Who Loved the Lad
No more promising future for a local youth was ever cut short by death than was the passing early last Tuesday morning of Gerald S. Cohn, 16-year-old son of Mr. Edward and Mrs. Alma Stein Cohn, the latter a teacher at the South School. The funeral, held on Wednesday afternoon in San Francisco, was one of the saddest that many of the lad’s admirers in Sausalito had ever attended.
“Jerry,” as he was called by his legion of friends – both young and old – was an exceptional scholar at the Tamalpais Union High School, having attained the highest honors ever awarded a member of t he Honor T Society, despite his tender years. He displayed a natural ability to advance in academic work; was a skillful musician, and such an all-round young gentleman that he really appeared to be far beyond his years.
The youth was stricken ill last summer vacation time and was taken to San Francisco for attention. He failed to respond, however, and passed away early Tuesday morning.
In addition to his parents, and his sister, Doris Cohn, and grandfather, Julius S. Cohn, “Jerry” leaves behind a host of friends who will always have for him a cherished memory of a boy that possessed the makings of an outstanding man.
