A. F. HARTMANN
Anthony F. (Tony) Hartmann, 17-year-old Terra Linda High School student, died yesterday in a local hospital after losing a long fight with muscular dystrophy.
Young Hartmann, afflicted with the disease since he was a small child, was state poster child in the 1963 Muscular Dystrophy Association drive for funds.
He was born in San Rafael and lived all his life in the county, attending local schools. The family home is at 626 Vendola Drive, Santa Venetia.
Hartmann was a member of the Citizen’s Band Radio Club, where his code name was “Old Ironsides.”
He is survived by his parents, Hans and Margrit Hartmann; his sister, Margrit Hartmann, his brother, Hans Ruedy Hartmann, all of the family home, and his grandmother, Berta Hartmann of Switzerland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon tomorrow at Blessed Sacrament Church in Santa Venetia. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O. Box 604, Kentfield.
