Quentin Clerk Stricken, Dies
Stricken with a heart attack at work yesterday, Ray C. Hansen, supervising clerk in San Quentin Prison’s accounting department, died less than an hour after he was taken to a local hospital.
Hansen, 49, lived at Escalon, San Joaquin County. He stayed at the prison during the week, returning home each weekend.
He went to work for the state Department of corrections in 1949 and worked at Folsom Prison until 1952, when he was transferred to San Quentin. He was a native of Sacramento.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Hansen, supervising nurse at Escalon Hospital, and a daughter, Janice, 10.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
