VERA GRUNDEL
Vera Grundel of San Rafael, a retired dental X-ray instructor, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 1990, at the Rafael Convalescent Hospital. She was 81.
Mrs. Grundel was a San Francisco native and had lived at Aldersly Danish Retirement home for the last two years. Prior to that, she had lived in Calistoga.
Mrs. Grundel earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California at Berkeley.
She was a member of the honor society, Phi Beta Kappa.
Mrs. Grundel was an instructor in Oral Roentgenology (dental X-rays) at the University of California School of Dentistry in San Francisco for 25 years.
Her husband, Willard Grundel, died in 1967.
Mrs. Grundel had a lifelong interest in teaching. In later life, she devoted much of her time promoting educational programs in the health field for older adults, said a friend, Dr. Carolyn B. Albrecht.
She is survived by three cousins, Beatrice Meyers, Eve Meyer and Wilbur Laidlaw, all of San Francisco.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Keaton’s Mortuary Chapel in San Rafael.
Inurnment will be in Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma.
