Harvey Chapman Dies At 68

Funeral for Harvey Mayne Chapman, retired civil engineer and Boy Scout leader, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Corte Madera.

Chapman, 68, died Friday, apparently of a heart attack, at his home at 4 Meadow Drive, Mill Valley. He had a long history of heart trouble.

He was born in San Francisco and had worked as a civil engineer for the Division of Highways for 38 years. He was a charter member of Alto Volunteer Firemen and had been a member fot 28 years. He was a former member of the Marin County Council of the Boy Scouts of America. At the time of his death, he was secretary to the Mill Valley Scout Hall.

He is survived by his wife, Helen L. Chapman; a son, Phillip L. Chapman of Fairfax; two daughters, Carol P. Meacham of Novato and Mary L. Wix of La Palma, Orange County; a sister, Adele Lawson of Fresno; a brother, Malcolm H. Chapman of Florida; and six grandchildren.

Entombment will be at the Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.

Memorial contributions to Holy Innocents Church or the building fund of Mill Valley Scout Hall would be preferred by the family.

A Death Notice in the same paper mentions a deceased son, Gerald Mayne Chapman, as well as grandchildren, Michael, Sheryl and Ronald Wix, John and Stephen Meacham and Michelle Chapman. Mr. Chapman was the father-in-law of Ingburg Chapman, Charles and Gerald Meacham (sic).
