HARRY C. GREEN
Harry C. Green. Longtime Petaluma resident, died yesterday at a local hospital after a brief illness. He was 80.
Green was born in Novato, where his family operated a ranch in the Black Point area. After living in Oakland for a short time, Green moved to the Wilson district of Petaluma as a teenager.
During the 1930s, Green worked as a stonecutter for the Northbay Monument Co. of Santa Rosa and went on to be a machinist at Mare Island Naval Shipyard.
After his retirement there in the 1950s, he went to work for Milner’s Sporting Goods store in Petaluma as a gunsmith and repairman for fishing and boating equipment. After the store closed, Green worked for Jim’s Sporting Goods in Novato.
After his retirement there, he was self-employed at his home. Green was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of the Petaluma Outdoorsmen’s Club.
Green also belonged to the Petaluma Stamp Club and Petaluma Cinema Club. He was the husband of the late Nellie Green.
He is survived by two sons, Harry C. Green Jr. of Carson City, Nev. and LeRoy Green of Livermore; a daughter, Marilyn Bottini of Davis; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Parent Funeral Chapel, Petaluma. Private inurnment will be at Cypress Hill Memorial Park.
