ANSHALL NELSON
Former sports writer

Anshall Nelson, 79, of Mill Valley, died Sunday, June 17, 1990, at Kaiser Hospital in Terra Linda.

Mr. Nelson had lived in Mill Valley for the past 40 years. He was a native of New York.

Mr. Nelson was a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles. He was a veteran of World War II. He worked as an administrative service officer for the California Workman’s Compensation Appeals Board for 30 years. He also worked as a sports writer for the Los Angeles Times.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Jean Nelson of Mill Valley; two daughters, Deborah Riva Nelson Penoquin of Novato and Susan N. Nelson of London; a sister, Sarah Simon of Los Angeles; and one grandchild.

There will be a private family burial today. A memorial service will take place later. Arrangements are being handled by Mount Tamalpais Mortuary.

The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
