David C. Jones

A 40-year resident of Marin County and business owner for a quarter century, died of cancer on October 22nd, 2007 at home in Novato, California.

Mr. Jones was born in Ohio to the late W. Crawford and Florence Jones. In 1955, his parents moved the family to San Francisco, where his father was the pastor of the Open Bible Church on Market Street for many years.

After attending San Francisco State University, Mr. Jones joined the Army and served for two years. In 1962, he formed his own manufacturing business, Fullers’ Soaps, located in Bel Marin Keys. The name for the company came from a Bible passage, Malachi 3:2: “But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fuller’s sope.” Mr. Jones’ company produced high-quality, privately labeled glycerine soaps and amenities. He sold the business shortly before his death.

What friends and family most valued about Mr. Jones were his warmth, his humor, and his gentle manner despite a towering height of 6’5”. No one loved a good joke more than Mr. Jones, and no one had a broader repertoire. He traveled the world with his wife, Linda.

In addition to his wife, Linda, Mr. Jones is survived by his sister, Helen Woodiwiss, and his niece Heather Woodiwiss, both of El Sobrante, his nephew James Lee of Fort Collins, CO, and his nephew Jason Lee of Pittsburgh, PA.

Services will be held Saturday, November 3rd, at the Church of the Nazarene, 5400 Nave Drive in Novato, CA 94949 at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either his beloved Church of the Nazarene, or to Hospice by the Bay, which helped to care for him in his final weeks, at 17 East Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Larkspur, A 94939.
