Arthur Quinn, Retired S. A. Merchant, Dies

Arthur W. Quinn, retired San Anselmo merchant and resident at 31 Magnolia avenue for the past 46 years, died at his home yesterday after a two-week illness. He was suffering from a heart condition.

A native of San Francisco, he had come to San Anselmo just after the turn of the century where he established a shoe store which he operated until his retirement 15 years ago. His age was not given.

Quinn leaves his widow, Elvira M. Quinn; a daughter, Mrs. Elma R. Swadley of San Anselmo; two sons, Arthur J. Quinn Jr. of San Rafael and Frank Quinn of San Anselmo; and four grandchildren.

Arthur Jr. and Frank are both well-known Marin ball players of the 1920’s. Frank was formerly head baseball coach at San Rafael Military Academy, and well known basketball referee in the north bay. Both are now mail carriers for San Anselmo.

Rosary services will be held 8 o’clock tonight at Keaton’s mortuary, San Rafael. Private funeral services will be held tomorrow at St. Anselm’s Church, San Anselmo. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet cemetery.

A Death Notice on the same page adds that he was the grandfather of Laureen, Arthur III, Michael and Susan Quinn.
