Popular Young Matron Called
Mrs. M. P. Flaherty Buried in Ukiah
The sad and untimely death of Bessie, the wife of Conductor Martin P. Flaherty of the Northwestern Pacific in San Rafael on Tuesday, was a severe shock to her relatives and to her many friends. They extend to the bereaved husband their sincere sympathy in his bereavement. The funeral was held on Thursday in Ukiah, where she was born 29 years ago and raised. It was one of the largest held in that city, many coming from this County. The pallbearers were R. C. Bucklin, Charles H. Brown, A. Gusti, J. McCormick, R. S. Grove and G. W. Clark. The grave was covered with handsome floral pieces. Among them were pieces from Mizpah Division of Conductors, Tamalpais Lodge of Railway Trainmen and the Ladies Auxiliary of Railway Trainmen.
The deceased was the daughter of Stephen and Selma McGarvey and a granddaughter of Judge McGarvey, for many years Judge of Mendocino County. Three years ago she was happily married to Mr. Flaherty and their married life was unalloyed. She was very talented, took a leading part in amateur dramatic circles in Ukiah and by her charming disposition was a favorite with all.
She leaves a little daughter three weeks old.
The deceased was a charter member and secretary of Marin Lodge No. 460, LA. to B. R. T.
