San Rafael Man Struck Down And Fatally Injured By Speeding Auto
Eugene Trembly, 40 Years of Age Dies in Hospital as Result of His Injuries

Struck down by a car driven by Marion Williams of San Quentin last night at the corner of Fourth and E streets, Eugene Trembly, 40, for more than a year employed as a washer by the Lafargue Laundry Co., suffered injuries from which he died at 7 o’clock this morning at the Cottage Hospital. The base of his skull was fractured and he did not regain consciousness.

Trembly, crossing from the southeast to the northeast corner, was hit by Williams’ car when he was ten feet from the sidewalk, according to the report of Sergeant Paul Treanton and Officer William Kane, and dragged. The report states that the Williams car was going at a high rate of speed.

Trembly was taken to the hospital by Charles Gettemy of the Marin County Credit Ass’n and Francis Rodgers of Rodgers & Lartigue in the Williams car.

Williams, who is employed at the San Anselmo store of C. Grosjean & Co., was not taken into custody. A coroner’s inquest in the case is to be held this evening at 7:30.
