Edward Ryan Passes Away
Edward Ryan, for nearly a quarter of a century a resident of Sausalito and forty-seven years a resident of this township, peacefully passed away at his home in North Sausalito on Thursday evening. The funeral will be held this morning. A requiem mass for the repose of his soul will be said in St. Mary's Star of the Sea church at 10:30 and his remains will be laid away in Fernwood cemetery.
When Mr. and Mrs. Ryan came to this township in 1865 it was very sparsely settled and homes were far apart. Their latchstring was always out and hospitality always prevailed. Mr. Ryan was a devoted husband and kind and indulgent father; to his friends the soul of fellowship. He believed that the man who scatters flowers in the pathway of his fellow men, who lets into the dark places of life the sunshine of human sympathy and human happiness, is following in the footsteps of his Master.
He was a highly respected citizen and had many friends who sympathize with the bereaved family in their bereavement.
He was a native of Ireland, aged 74 the husband of Mary and the father of William, John, Edward, George, Charles, Elizabeth and Margaret Ryan and Mrs. Clinton Mason.
