Mrs. Mary Fallon Dies at Tomales

Mrs. Mary Fallon, widow of the late Luke Fallon and one of the best known and most highly esteemed pioneer residents of northern Marin county, passed away at 4 o’clock on Friday at her home at Fallon’s station as the result of injuries and shock she sustained by falling down the stairs at the home some days ago. It was known that the aged mother could not survive and all of the children had been sent for and were present at the end as were many of the neighbors and friends, the death of the beloved woman being painless and peaceful.

Mrs. Fallon was a native of Ireland and was aged 80 years. She lived for many years near Tomales on the old Fallon ranch where she reared a large family of children. Her late husband died 25 years ago.

Mrs. Fallon was a charitable, true hearted Christian woman, and leaves many friends to mourn her demise. She was the mother of James Fallon of Orland, Lawrence Fallon, Thos. Fallon of San Rafael, who is County Treasurer of Marin, Mrs. Sarah Pierce and Mrs. C. J. Flynn of Tomales. She also leaves a sister and other relatives. The funeral took place on Monday morning at Tomales. Services were held at the Tomales Church of the Assumption and the interment was in the Tomales cemetery.

At the time of her death Mrs. Fallon was the oldest pioneer living in Tomales township. She went there in 1857 and resided since that time on the ranch where she died.
