Califonia Malati, leader of the Ital- __ colonies in the bay district, died at his home in this city last Monday following a severe attack of pneumonia which, for six days, held its deadly grip upon its victim, until he was finally compelled to yield.

Carlo Califonia Malati was the husband of Eugenia Malati and father of Olga Malati, aged 6 years, a native of Italy, aged 45 years.

Friends and acquaintances attended the funeral services Thursday (today) January 7th at 9:30 a.m. held at St. Peter and Paul’s church, San Francisco, where requiem high mass was ___ed for the repose of his soul, commencing at 10 a.m. Interment, Holy Cross cemetery.

Malati at the time of his death was __rector of the Mercantile Trust Company branch bank in t his city and ___ heavily interested in oil operations in Southern California from which he derived a heavy income.

He has been for years a leader among the Italians of the state and large numbers of his countrymen consulted him upon matters of financial importance. He was a Republican in politics and did all he could in the interests of his part when the opportunity presented itself.

His home in this city was at 727 Mission street.
