Creed Dead
John Edward Creed, deputy sheriff of Marin County and night watchman of Sausalito, passed away at 12:50 p.m. in the German Hospital, San Francisco, from diabetes and blood-poisoning. His funeral will take place this morning. Services for the repose of his soul will be held in St. Mary, Star of Sea Church. Remains will be laid away in Fernwood cemetery.
Creed was born in Calais, Ne., in 1854 and came to Sausalito two score years ago. Creed has been in municipal employment most of the time and while on police duty, did excellent work in breaking up disorderly gangs and maintaining peace. He was fearless in the discharge of his duty and was greatly feared by the rough element.
He leaves a wife, Margaret and a son, John, to mourn his death. He is a member of Sausalito Camp W.O.W.
Mr. Creed was on duty night and day for several days and did not remove his boots. A blister appeared on his foot and subsequently broke. He neglected caring for it and about two weeks ago his foot became worse and suffering from diabetes, he was obliged to go to bed. His physician, had him removed to the German Hospital where an amputation, removing two of his toes, was performed in hopes of checking the blood poisoning. Creed was unconscious and the physicians held a consultation and his wife given no hope.
