Joseph Avilla, formerly employed on one of the ferry boats, passed away at his home Friday evening, Dec. 2nd, after a long illness, at the age of 42 years. He was buried in Fernwood cemetery of Tuesday. He was a member of the I.D.E.S. and the U.P.E.C. Members of both organizations attended the last sad rites of their deceased brother. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his death. Joe was a good faithful employee and was a favorite with the passengers by his courteousness.

Note: his tombstone is inscribed Jose J Avillar, died Dec. 3, age 41 years
