Kills Wife and Suicides

William Westcott, a halfbreed Indian and desperate character residing near Marshalls, killed his wife with a rifle Thursday evening and later in the evening committed suicide. William Hazlett, a neighboring rancher who was passing by at the time, witnessed the wife-murder and started toward the house. He suddenly retraced his steps after a bullet fired by Westcott grazed his shoulder. Word was sent to Sheriff William P. Taylor who with Constables Collamore and Agnew, fully armed, hurried to the scene in an automobile. Their trip was unnecessary however as Westcott committed suicide a short distance from his home by shooting himself with his rifle discharging the trigger by means of a string tied to his toe.
