Stephen McDonald
Tennis pro
Stephen Joseph McDonald was a Davis Cup champion and taught tennis in California and Hawaii.
Mr. McDonald, 47, of San Rafael, died unexpectedly July 4.
The San Francisco native attended College of Marin and Pepperdine University.
He served in the U.S. Army and belonged to the U.S. Professional Tennis Association.
Mr. McDonald enjoyed the outdoors and liked to garden. He also read classical literature.
He is survived by his son, Ryan McDonald of Washington; sister, Deborah Wilson of Redding; and longtime companion, Lauri Rose Newman of San Rafael.
A memorial service is pending.
