CHESTER O. HUNTER
Retired mechanic

Chester O. Hunter, a retired mechanic for the U.S. Postal Service, who served in the Army Air Corps during World War I, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1993, in Greenbrae. He was 101.

A native of Cherokee, Iowa, Mr. Hunter served in the U.S. Marines before World War I and then joined the Army Air Corps when war broke out. He served in France.

Mr. Hunter moved to San Anselmo in the 1920s and worked as a mechanic for the U.S. Post Office in San Francisco. He was a member of San Rafael Lodge No. 200 IOOF.

He is survived by a grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will e held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel of the Hills mortuary in San Anselmo. Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael. Friends may call at the mortuary for visitation after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorial gifts are preferred to a favorite charity.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the grandfather of Ray Davison of Apple Valley, Calif.
